About Sahara Hayes

Sahara Hayes is a lifelong Utahn who has the pleasure of growing up in the district where she now serves. After graduating from Westminster College she earned her Master’s in Public Administration from the University of Utah, where she developed a taste for public policy and a desire to help change Utah for the better.

After seeing the debates in Utah’s legislature on reproductive healthcare and the treatment of transgender youth, Sahara was driven to run for office. Her top priorities include increasing access to mental health resources for students, protecting the environment, and advocating for LGBTQ+ youth and their families. Her guiding principle is ensuring that constituent’s voices are heard and represented on Capitol Hill.

Outside of politics Sahara is a grant writer who works in the local government and nonprofit sectors. She previously served on the Millcreek Community Council and the Board of Directors for the Utah Cultural Celebration Center Foundation. She is an avid reader, hiker, and knitter, and she enjoys taking aerial arts classes. She resides in Millcreek with her partner, Lily, and a small pack of beloved pets.
